If you are looking for online
motor insurance quotes, then, if you behave as most do in the UK, you
will choose to deploy a price comparison site to find them.
Here, we are going to come at this issue of finding motor
insurance quotes from the flip side - that is, we will look at the
reasons why using a direct motor insurer can have certain advantages to
using a price comparison site.
While the position that we will argue is a less prevalent one in this
country, it does not mean that that position is misguided or that these
arguments are invalid. If we can persuade even one or two that there
may be some wisdom in getting motor insurance quotes
direct, then it will have served its purpose.
Already, the sceptics will be thinking: 'Well, if going direct is so
clever, how come so few adopt that approach to getting motor
insurance quotes?' They would also wish to point out that
the only way to compare car insurance from 100s, perhaps 1000s of
insurance companies, is to use a price comparison site. If you instead
go direct to individual insurance companies, at best, you can compare
perhaps three or four of them as each time you have to fill in a new
form.
If we start by addressing these points, the following is pertinent.
Firstly, the popularity of any one route to motor insurance
quotes is not the same as a quality endorsement of that route. Indeed,
low price is a better marker of the lack of quality of any product and
car insurance is no exception.
Secondly, to believe that you need to compare motor
insurance quotes to get a competitively-priced quote is incorrect.
You simply need to go to a well-established and sizeable insurance
company (that's basically just about any household name insurance
company), and, by so-doing, market-forces, taking account of the
positon of these large insurers in the market place, automatically
ensure that you don't pay too much. That is not to say that motor
insurance quotes found in this way will be necessarily the cheapest of
all, but when they are compared to other similar policies, the pricing
will be very close to that of rivals.
Now it could be argued here that the latter point - that the quote may
not be the cheapest - makes a good case for the use of a price
comparison site. However, it doesn't for one very good, important
reason. And that is that if you select your motor insurance
quotes direct from a large car insurance company, you're getting a
quality product as standard at a keen price.
You can look through the summaries of cover that we provide here via
the links below to see that these policies are well worth having. You
would struggle to say the same of the cheapest 'no frills' quotes on
comparison systems.
