A motor insurance quote
should be obtained through a price comparison site. It's a no-brainer,
isn't it?
Well, many certainly subcribe to this view. It's hard to ignore the
ease of use - and motor insurance quote comparison
power of a price comparison site - that is well able to reduce your
insurance costs.
If you get a motor insurance quote in this way, however,
it's more risky than most realise or stop to consider. A service that
puts price centre stage, especially low price, runs the risk of that
equally important aspect to effect your choice of policy being
forgotten about, peripheralised or downgraded. What is that aspect?
That aspect is what your getting for that price, of course. The market
is flooded with 'no frills' policies as numerous insurance companies
try to out-compete each other on price comparison sites.
If you fail to take account of this dynamic when selecting your motor
insurance quote, you are liekly to make a poor choice. Price is not
everything. It's only common sense to pay a bit more for a motor
insurance quote that comes with more worthwhile cover.
In fact, the very market forces to which we refer above tend to have
the effect that like policies, whatever level of cover you're looking
for, tend to be close in price. This does rather turn on its head the
premise of price comaprison sites as, if for like policies price more
or less looks after itself, it becomes more sensible to choose your
cover based on the policy features rather than the price of the motor
insurance quote.
The logical extension of this argument supports going direct to a top
UK car insurer for a motor insurance quote. Those we list
(links below) all offer good cover in their standard policies and, as
explaiend above, you won't be paying too much for what you're getting
due to the nature of a competitive market.
So are people wrong to use price comparison sites so readily instead of
going direct? We would suggest that they are.
We advise a much more restricted use of them. Where you are expecting a
high insurance premium and you have to be much more pragamtic in your
policy choice, we would suggest, is a more sensible context for their
use. Groups in this category may include new drivers, young drivers,
those with previous driving convictions, and those with a car insurance
group 5 or above car - especially where the no claims bonus is not
full. Admittedly this is a sizeable group, but it's certainly not
everyone.
For those who agree with the above reasoning, or even those that don't,
we can suggest using M&S car insurance, the top direct motor
insurance quote provider here.
